Engineering Manager, App SW - Embedded
Wayve, a leading developer of Embodied AI technology for autonomous vehicles, is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Application Software team. This role involves leading the US-based Application Engineering team to advance Wayve's autonomous driving technology tailored for the US market. The position is based in Detroit, Michigan, or Sunnyvale, California, offering a hybrid work environment.
As an Engineering Manager, you will oversee the software bring-up on customer hardware platforms, such as NVIDIA Drive and Qualcomm Ride. Your responsibilities include building and leading a high-performing engineering team, porting and configuring Linux-based systems, QNX, and Adaptive AUTOSAR environments, and validating the integration of drivers, middleware, and boot-time configurations. Collaboration with Verification & Release teams to integrate hardware into CI/CD, HIL, and test infrastructure is essential. Additionally, you will partner with OEM and Tier 1 teams to resolve hardware-specific integration issues and enable system-level diagnostics, logging, and secure boot configuration. Automating setup, flashing, health checks, and test execution on target hardware is also a key aspect of the role.
Candidates should have over 8 years of experience in embedded or automotive software development, with hands-on platform bring-up experience. Proficiency in C/C++, Bash, and Python is required. A deep understanding of Linux-based embedded systems, including Yocto, systemd, bootloaders, and device trees, is essential. Familiarity with QNX and Adaptive AUTOSAR environments, and the ability to configure and debug them on target hardware, is necessary. Experience with automotive-grade SoCs, such as NVIDIA Orin, Qualcomm SA8295/SA8650, Renesas, or TI, is advantageous. Comfort with hardware debuggers, flashing tools, serial consoles, and board support packages (BSPs) is expected. Knowledge of communication protocols like CAN, Ethernet, PCIe, SPI, and I2C is beneficial. Hands-on experience integrating embedded platforms into CI/CD pipelines and test automation frameworks is also desired.
The estimated annual salary for this role ranges from $252,500 to $298,200, complemented by a competitive equity package.
