Collections Manager
GHJ, a prominent national accounting and advisory firm, is seeking an experienced Collections Manager to lead and optimize its collections function within a growing and highly respected law firm. This role offers a high-impact leadership opportunity for a hands-on collections professional who enjoys managing teams, partnering with attorneys and firm leadership, and driving measurable improvements in cash flow and collections performance. The position is based in Los Angeles, California, with a hybrid work environment.
As the Collections Manager, you will lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5–6 collections professionals, managing day-to-day collections operations in a fast-paced legal environment. You will partner closely with attorneys, partners, and firm leadership to resolve collection issues and improve recovery efforts, handling escalated collection matters and complex client situations. Additionally, you will monitor aging reports, portfolio performance, and collection trends, developing and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce delinquency. Collaboration with Billing, Accounting, and Finance teams will be essential to ensure timely resolution of billing-related issues, and you will produce reporting and provide insights to leadership regarding collections performance and portfolio risk.
The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of collections and/or accounts receivable experience, with at least 5 years of leadership experience managing collections teams. Prior experience within a law firm or professional services environment is required, along with a proven ability to manage collections in a high-volume environment. Strong experience working directly with attorneys, partners, and executive leadership is essential, as well as experience improving collection performance, reducing aging, and driving cash flow improvements. Proficiency in Excel, including reporting and data analysis, is necessary, and experience with legal financial systems such as Elite 3E or Aderant is highly preferred. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills are crucial.
Compensation for this role ranges from $100,000 to $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
