Commercial Counsel, Sales

In this role, the Commercial Counsel will lead negotiations for complex and strategic agreements, providing legal guidance on a broad spectrum of commercial and legal matters. This includes advising on the launch of new products, supporting international expansions, and collaborating closely with Product Legal to bring new offerings to market. The position also involves developing and maintaining Stripe's commercial legal infrastructure, drafting and updating agreements and playbooks, and leveraging AI tools to enhance internal processes and client interactions.
Candidates should possess over five years of relevant experience, either in-house or within a technology practice group at a top law firm. A Juris Doctor (JD) degree or its foreign equivalent, along with membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar, is required. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, a creative problem solver, and proactive with a strong sense of ownership. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to distill complex issues into clear, actionable advice. Experience in the payment or fintech industries, familiarity with data protection laws such as CCPA, GDPR, and HIPAA, and a working knowledge of AI tools are preferred.
