The Counsel (Construction), Legal position at the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) offers an opportunity to provide legal support and representation for the organization's construction and commercial property management projects. This role operates under the guidance of senior attorneys and the General Counsel, contributing to NYCEDC's mission of fostering inclusive innovation and economic growth in New York City.

Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements related to capital and infrastructure construction initiatives, such as construction management contracts, service contracts, licenses, permits, and consultant agreements. The Counsel will also assist with transactions involving real estate and economic development projects, including waterfront, transportation, and maritime initiatives, and participate in negotiations with contractors, developers, public agencies, and consultants.

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and be actively admitted and in good standing with the New York State Bar. A minimum of two years of post-law school legal experience in construction law, contracts, or related fields is required. Strong communication skills, legal research and drafting capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple assignments are essential. New York City residency is required within 180 days of hire.
