The Counsel position at NYCEDC offers an opportunity to provide legal support and representation for the organization's diverse programs and projects. Working under the guidance of senior attorneys and the General Counsel, the Counsel will play a pivotal role in advancing NYCEDC's mission to foster inclusive innovation and economic growth in New York City.
Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various agreements such as leases, licenses, permits, consultant and professional services agreements, funding and loan agreements, and construction and development contracts. The Counsel will also assist with real estate and economic development transactions, participate in negotiations with multiple stakeholders, and manage transactions through closing by coordinating with internal teams and external parties.
Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and be admitted to the New York State Bar in good standing. A minimum of two years of post-law school legal experience in areas such as real estate, finance, construction, or contracts is required. Strong communication skills, legal research and drafting capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple assignments are essential.
