Data and Technology - Legal Privacy Intern (Summer 2026)
Cloudflare is seeking a Legal Privacy Intern for Summer 2026 to join their Washington, D.C. office. This role is integral to Cloudflare's mission of building a better Internet by ensuring the privacy and security of personal information. The intern will collaborate with the legal team to navigate complex privacy regulations and support initiatives that enhance the company's data protection practices.
In this position, the intern will research and advise on privacy developments and data protection laws affecting global technology companies. Responsibilities include developing resources such as policies, processes, and playbooks for global privacy and data protection compliance, covering areas like data breach notification, critical infrastructure, data localization, public sector IT service provider certifications, biometric compliance, marketing privacy, and HR/employment privacy. The intern will also interact with engineers and product experts on legal privacy and infrastructure topics, contribute to blogs and marketing materials on Cloudflare's privacy and data protection posture, and support the legal privacy counsel in coordinating responses to privacy and infrastructure incidents.
Candidates should have a basic understanding of major global and regional privacy laws, such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and U.S. state comprehensive privacy laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Familiarity with concepts like Privacy by Design, Data Minimization, Purpose Limitation, and lawful bases for processing personal data is essential. Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, are required, along with the ability to efficiently use legal databases and translate complex information into digestible language. Experience working in IT environments and applying legal requirements to technical systems and products is beneficial.
The internship offers an estimated hourly pay of $24. Candidates must commit to a minimum 12-week summer internship and be available to work in the Washington, D.C. office 3-5 days a week.
