Dir. & Sr. Legal Counsel - Employment Law
Western Digital is seeking a Director and Senior Legal Counsel specializing in Employment Law to join their legal team in Singapore. This role involves managing complex employment law issues across multiple jurisdictions in the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and supporting various essential projects. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining in-office presence with remote work flexibility.
Key responsibilities include drafting, revising, and advising on employment-related documents such as offer letters, separation agreements, confidentiality agreements, and commission and bonus plans. The role also involves advising on all aspects of performance management, supporting internal investigations, and providing guidance on both individual and collective employment rights and obligations. Managing cross-border employment issues and collaborating with the employment team on global projects are also integral parts of the position. Additionally, the role entails overseeing employment-related litigation, claims, investigations, audits, and subpoenas, as well as monitoring employment law-related legislation and regulations that may affect the company in the APAC region.
Candidates should possess relevant advanced experience in a top-tier law firm and in-house legal department, with a specific focus on employment law throughout the APAC region. A law degree from an accredited institution is required, and admission to practice in Singapore or the ability to register as In-House Counsel in Singapore is necessary. Strong analytical skills, the ability to understand complex legal issues, and excellent English oral and written communication skills are essential. Experience working in or with technology companies is preferred, and familiarity with employment laws in the Philippines and Thailand is a plus.
