Director, Clinical Trial Finance
The Director, Clinical Trial Finance at Structure Therapeutics will lead the financial planning and oversight of clinical trial activities, including accruals, in support of the company's development portfolio. Reporting to the Executive Director, FP&A, this role serves as a key strategic partner to Clinical Operations, Development, FP&A, and Accounting, ensuring strong financial governance, accurate reporting, and actionable insights to inform decision-making. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in biotech finance, a thorough understanding of clinical development, and a strategic, hands-on approach to driving financial performance in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
Key responsibilities include driving financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for clinical trials; overseeing financial management across programs, including accruals and variance analysis, in alignment with corporate objectives; managing clinical trial contracts, amendments, and compliance with financial terms; partnering closely with Accounting to ensure accurate and timely financial close processes; serving as the primary finance business partner to Clinical Operations, Development, and Program Management; establishing and maintaining strong relationships with CROs, vendors, and external partners; collaborating across the Clinical organization to define key financial drivers, timelines, and milestones for clinical trials; leading audit readiness efforts and supporting internal and external audits related to clinical trial expenditures; and continuously enhancing financial processes, systems, and internal controls to support scalability and operational excellence.
The position requires 10+ years of finance experience, including 7+ years in increasingly responsible roles within finance and accounting, with significant experience supporting clinical trials in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. Candidates should have deep industry experience with a strong understanding of clinical development, industry dynamics, and key financial drivers; strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance, with deep expertise in accrual accounting and clinical trial financial management, including contracts and CRO oversight; proven leadership experience with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams; advanced financial modeling and forecasting capabilities, including scenario planning and analysis; strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and external partners; and proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred experience includes supporting global clinical trials and managing financials across multiple currencies; experience with NetSuite, Zip, and Condor; and strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required, with CPA or MBA preferred.
Structure Therapeutics is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices, providing employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $205,000 - $250,000. The exact base pay offered will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's geography, qualifications, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, the successful candidate will be eligible for an annual performance incentive bonus, new hire equity, and ongoing performance-based equity.
