Director, Commercial Law
The Director of Commercial Law at HopSkipDrive is a pivotal role within the company's legal team, responsible for overseeing and modernizing the entire contract lifecycle. This includes contract initiation, drafting, negotiation, execution, and termination, with a strong emphasis on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance efficiency. The position is fully remote, open to applicants in various states across the United States.
Key responsibilities encompass revamping the contract review process by leveraging AI technologies, managing high-volume contract reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies, and handling vendor contracts, including negotiation and dispute resolution. The role also involves leading and scaling teams in a dynamic, high-growth environment, providing guidance and development opportunities to direct and skip-level reports, and collaborating with enterprise revenue teams to support sales and business development efforts.
Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school, active bar membership, and at least 10 years of experience in an in-house legal team or law firm. A minimum of 10 years in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, service contracts, NDAs, and licensing agreements, is required. Hands-on experience with AI and generative AI tools for legal work, such as building or tuning AI agents for contract review, drafting, or negotiation, is essential. Experience with legal AI or contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms, including vendor management and system integrations, is also necessary.
The compensation for this role includes a salary range of $189,000 to $200,000 per year, with adjustments based on the location where the position is filled.
