The Director of Lateral Integration at McGuireWoods is responsible for leading the strategic onboarding and integration of newly hired partners, primarily lateral partners, across the firm. This role ensures that partners are positioned for early and sustained success by accelerating productivity, supporting client transitions, building strong internal relationships, and fully integrating partners into the firm's culture, systems, and business development platform. The Director plays a critical role in advancing the firm's growth strategy by translating lateral partner hiring into long-term revenue growth, engagement, and cross-practice collaboration.

Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and managing firmwide partner onboarding and integration frameworks aligned with McGuireWoods' strategic priorities. The Director collaborates with hiring sponsors, business development, and practice management to develop individualized integration plans tailored to each partner's practice, clients, and growth objectives. Regular touchpoints at 30, 90, 180, and 365 days are conducted with key stakeholders to monitor and provide feedback on each lateral partner's progression. Additionally, the Director coordinates cross-functional onboarding efforts with various departments, supports the Lateral Partner Integration Committee (LPIC), facilitates targeted partner introductions, and ensures timely completion of all onboarding requirements.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in partner integration, lateral hiring support, practice management, or business development within a law firm or professional services environment. A strong understanding of law firm operations and the professional services business model is essential. The position requires 7–10+ years of experience in law firm administration, professional services, or a comparable field. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to build trusted, confidential relationships with newly hired partners and to guide them in navigating the firm's culture, governance, systems, and expectations.
