Director/ Senior Director, Applied AI

As the Director/Senior Director of Applied AI at Lila Sciences, you will lead the development of our Applied AI team, focusing on fine-tuning and adapting models for real-world applications. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable AI solutions that are accessible and trustworthy.

Your primary responsibilities will include building and leading a high-performing team to develop scientific reasoning models for consumer applications. You will own the end-to-end model customization pipeline, create integrated evaluation frameworks for continuous improvement, and set technical standards for AI systems in production. Additionally, you will partner with various teams to define requirements, deliver customer proofs of concept, and transition successful pilots into scalable products.

To succeed in this role, you should have over 8 years of experience in applied machine learning or machine learning systems, with at least 3 years in a leadership position. A proven track record of deploying large language models into production is essential. Deep expertise in fine-tuning and evaluating large models for customer interaction, as well as proficiency in production inference frameworks and data privacy best practices for multi-tenant systems, are required.

We offer a competitive base salary ranging from $320,000 to $490,000 USD, along with bonus potential and generous early-stage equity.
