Clifford Chance's Brussels antitrust team is part of the firm's global antitrust practice, advising on high-profile cases across antitrust, merger control, and state aid. The team operates in small groups, providing members with significant responsibility and early client exposure. Lawyers collaborate closely with over 180 antitrust professionals worldwide, addressing complex multinational antitrust issues with a focus on practical business implications.

The competition/antitrust practice assists clients with merger clearance matters, including phase II proceedings and representation in the European Courts. They defend clients in cartel investigations, provide compliance advice, and support governments and institutions in state aid notifications and investigations. The team works together to solve multinational antitrust issues, taking into account the interplay between different practices and rules, and always mindful of the practical implications antitrust issues may have on clients' businesses.

Ideal candidates should have a background in competition law and an interest in practicing antitrust law in a private practice setting in Brussels. While a law degree from the candidate's home jurisdiction is preferred, qualification as a lawyer is not mandatory. However, candidates should have a clear and feasible path to European bar qualification while working in a law firm.
