Employment Investigations Attorney - San Jose
Axiom is seeking an experienced Investigations Counsel to join our technology client team in San Jose, CA. This role involves leading full-cycle corporate investigations for a global SaaS/technology company, ensuring thorough, consistent, and compliant handling of workplace issues. The position requires on-site presence five days per week.
In this role, you will manage end-to-end workplace investigations, including scoping, interviewing, evidence review, findings, and remediation recommendations. You will handle a portfolio of 6–8 complex matters simultaneously, with an expectation to close most cases within 30 days. Investigations will cover a wide range of issues, from interpersonal complaints to complex multi-party matters, including Title VII and other EEO-related cases. You will draft clear, well-reasoned investigation reports and collaborate closely with Legal, HR, Compliance, and business stakeholders on outcomes and remediation. Additionally, you will develop and refine investigation protocols, documentation standards, and reporting metrics, while staying current on employment, anti-discrimination, and whistleblower laws and best practices in workplace investigations.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of hands-on, full-cycle workplace and corporate investigations experience, with a demonstrated background handling complex, sensitive investigations, including Title VII/anti-discrimination and harassment matters. Experience in a fast-paced technology or SaaS environment is strongly preferred. Proven ability to manage multiple high-stakes investigations simultaneously under tight timelines is essential. Exceptional interviewing, fact-finding, and written communication skills, including concise, defensible report writing, are required. A Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent and licensure to practice law in California are mandatory.
Compensation for this role is competitive, with the estimated total compensation for full-time Axiom attorney roles ranging from $104,500 to $325,000 per year. Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.
