Engineering Manager - Mobile App
Alma is seeking an Engineering Manager for its Mobile App team in Paris. This role involves leading the Alma Wallet squad, which focuses on enhancing the payment experience within the Alma app. The team is dedicated to developing features like the Alma card, integrating new payment methods such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, and implementing identity verification and Open Banking functionalities. The position reports to Tony, Senior Engineering Manager, and collaborates closely with Justine, Product Manager.
Key responsibilities include delivering the Alma Wallet roadmap, leading and growing the Alma Wallet squad by supporting engineers' development, hiring the right profiles, and creating an environment where the team can do its best work. The role also involves building an effective delivery system by improving team processes, rituals, and collaboration with Product, Design, and other Consumer squads. Additionally, the Engineering Manager will raise the technical bar and protect reliability through code reviews, technical design discussions, and a strong focus on the quality and resilience of payment flows.
Candidates should have over 3 years of experience managing or leading engineers, including hiring and supporting team development. A strong hands-on technical background in mobile or back-end engineering is essential, with comfort in reviewing code and leading architecture discussions. Experience in delivering products within a cross-functional squad with Product and Design is required. Fluency in both French and English is necessary. Additional qualifications include experience in fintech or another regulated environment, working with payment methods, payment service providers, or PSP SDK integrations, contributing to a consumer mobile application used at scale, and mobile engineering experience, ideally with React Native.
The compensation package includes a competitive salary based on 12 months, profit-sharing, and an employee savings plan. Health insurance is 100% covered by Alma, including a family package, and disability insurance is also fully covered. Employees have access to partnerships with Gymlib and Classpass, or a €30/month reimbursement for sports activities. Maternity/paternity leave offers 100% salary maintenance during leave with no seniority requirement, and a return-to-work schedule at 4/5 paid at 100% for 8 weeks. Additional benefits include a Sustainable Mobility Package (FMD) of €544.80/year (excluding full-remote contracts), meal vouchers of €10/day (50% covered by Alma), free access to the MindDay platform for mental health support, and 25 days of paid time off per year.
Joining Alma offers the opportunity to shape the Alma Wallet squad from the ground up, helping define its ways of working, team culture, and engineering practices. The role involves owning projects at the heart of Alma’s strategy, including the Alma card, Apple Pay and Google Pay integrations, local payment methods, and the evolution of the consumer payment experience. Employees work on a modern, end-to-end product stack, from Expo, React Native, React 19, and TypeScript 7 on mobile to Python and FastAPI on the back-end.
