Engineering Manager, Warehouse Scale

LaunchDarkly is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Warehouse Scale team, responsible for building and operating the foundational data infrastructure that powers the company's warehouse-native products. This role involves managing data export pipelines, orchestrating DAGs, conducting warehouse health checks, and setting up warehouse connections. The position offers an opportunity to drive critical platform infrastructure within a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture.

The Engineering Manager will lead and develop a team of backend engineers, providing coaching, feedback, and career growth opportunities. Responsibilities include partnering with Product Management and Design to scope, estimate, and sequence roadmap items, making real-time scope tradeoffs, and ensuring the delivery of critical infrastructure components. Collaboration with adjacent teams on shared infrastructure decisions and cross-team dependencies is essential. The role also involves communicating roadmaps, risks, and progress to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, as well as driving operational excellence by improving reliability, observability, and incident response for production data infrastructure.

Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 2 years managing a team of backend or infrastructure engineers. Experience in building or operating data infrastructure at scale, including pipelines, orchestration frameworks, or data platform systems, is required. Proven ability to translate business goals into engineering plans with reliable estimations, strong communication skills, and a track record of coaching and developing engineers are essential. Familiarity with observability practices and comfort with production incident response are also important. Experience with Go or comparable backend languages, as well as familiarity with data warehouse platforms and data pipeline tooling, is a plus.
