Entry-Level Attorney (Criminal Defense)
The United Firm | La Liga Defensora, APC is seeking an Entry-Level Criminal Defense Attorney to join their dynamic team in Bakersfield, California. This premier law firm offers a promising opportunity for a dedicated attorney to gain valuable experience and advance their career in criminal defense. As part of the Criminal Defense Team, the attorney will collaborate with experienced attorneys and legal assistants to provide exceptional legal services to clients.
In this role, the attorney will be responsible for advising clients on their legal rights and drafting related legal documents. They will attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients, providing strategic guidance post-hearing. Additional duties include managing court appearances, trials, drafting motions, interviewing witnesses, and conducting legal research. The attorney will analyze case outcomes using legal precedents, manage a caseload, and gather evidence to support clients' cases or counter prosecution charges. Preparing clients for depositions and collaborating with witnesses and experts to strengthen case strategies are also key responsibilities.
Candidates should possess a Juris Doctorate degree and active bar admission; law graduates awaiting admission will also be considered. A demonstrated interest in criminal defense law through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships is preferred. Experience handling complex criminal cases at federal, state, and local levels is advantageous. Strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to exceptional client service, and the ability to work collaboratively with fellow associates are essential. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
The compensation package includes a salary range of $80,000 to $90,000 annually, with potential for higher earnings based on experience.
