Expert/Principal Software Engineer
Arista Networks is seeking an Expert/Principal Software Engineer to join our Extensible Operating System (EOS) development team. This role involves contributing to the design and implementation of EOS, our Linux-based network operating system that powers Arista's data center networking products. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate with engineers and marketing professionals to develop features for some of the world's largest data center networks.
In this position, you will be responsible for writing functional and design specifications for drivers and APIs to manage hardware devices in Linux. Your day-to-day tasks will include implementing solutions using C, C++, and Python, developing automated test programs, debugging issues identified by these tests, and working closely with Customer Support Engineers to resolve problems in customer installations. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall quality and delivery of EOS software.
The ideal candidate will possess a BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with 12 years of experience, an MS with 10 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with 7 years of experience. Proficiency in C, C++, and Python is required, along with hands-on experience with open-source software, writing Linux drivers, and programming ASICs or custom hardware. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential.
Arista offers a competitive base salary ranging from $140,000 to $210,000 across Canada, with actual compensation based on factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
