Hawkins, Inc., a publicly traded company based in Minneapolis and recognized as one of the Top 25 Chemical Distributors in the country, is seeking a Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Intern to join its Accounting department. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial planning processes of a company that serves diverse industries, including energy, electronics, chemical processing, and pharmaceuticals.

The FP&A Intern will assist the FP&A Manager in creating the fiscal year 2013 company-wide financial budget. Responsibilities include reviewing prior fiscal year financial performance for each reporting unit and department, identifying key drivers of expenses, coordinating budget requests with department managers, generating and publishing various reports using JD Edwards and MS Excel, maintaining budget data in MS Access and Excel, assisting with capital expenditure budgeting and analysis, explaining budget versus actual variances to management, documenting the financial planning process, and suggesting process changes or system improvements. Additionally, the intern will complete month-end schedules and reports, archive files and paperwork, and participate in other assigned duties or projects.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and have completed a minimum of three years of post-secondary education with an emphasis in Finance, Accounting, or Information Technology. Proficiency in Microsoft applications—Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access—is required. The role demands attention to detail, problem-solving skills, excellent oral and written communication abilities, a high level of personal organization, the capacity to multitask and meet deadlines, and the ability to work both independently and within a team setting. Applicants must be able to pass a background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen.
