The FinCrime Operations Team Lead - Sanctions will play a pivotal role in establishing and leading the Sanctions Screening team in São Paulo, Brazil. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the foundation of Wise's operations in Brazil, mentor a growing team of specialists, and directly impact the company's compliance mission.

In this role, the Team Lead will be responsible for hiring, leading, developing, and managing the Sanctions team, including administrative tasks such as scheduling, interviewing, and organizing team activities. They will measure the team's key performance indicators (KPIs), plan capacity, and maintain a focus on customer experience. Additionally, the Team Lead will develop effective operational processes, task allocation, training, and performance management to deliver a great customer experience while managing costs. Collaboration with Wise's Quality team is essential to maintain high-quality sanctions checks performed by the team. The Team Lead will also work with compliance to evolve policies and processes, understand and manage training on regulatory obligations, and represent the policies and processes to regulators and auditors.

Candidates should have management experience in operations or compliance, with previous work experience in the financial sector or compliance, providing strong compliance knowledge and an understanding of the relevant regulatory landscape. Sanctions experience is a significant advantage. The ability to build and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, is crucial. Excellent communication and presentation skills are necessary to assist on internal and external projects and audits. A good understanding of the team's metrics and the ability to analyze and improve them is required. Candidates should have a proven track record of taking ownership and being a great team player, as well as familiarity with reading legal and regulatory documents, formulating strategy to make informed decisions, and successfully executing plans. The ability to persevere in a fast-paced environment is essential.

The compensation package includes a monthly salary ranging from 15,400 to 17,750 BRL, along with benefits and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The role offers a flexible working model, with an initial period of in-office presence to immerse in Wise's culture and ways of working, followed by at least three days per week in the office.
