Identity Engineer - Okta, 12 months Fixed Term Contract
Canva is seeking an experienced Identity Engineer specializing in Okta for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is part of the Workforce Access Management team within the IT Platform Group, focusing on enhancing the company's identity infrastructure to provide secure and seamless access for all employees. The position offers flexibility, allowing candidates to work remotely across Australia and New Zealand, with options to collaborate from Canva's offices in Sydney, Melbourne, or other co-working spaces.
The Identity Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations using Okta across various enterprise applications, utilizing protocols such as SAML, OIDC, and OAuth. Key duties include building and maintaining SCIM integrations for automated user provisioning and deprovisioning, collaborating with security and application teams to establish and enforce identity architecture best practices, and leading the assessment and integration of third-party SaaS applications into Canva's identity management framework. Additionally, the role involves troubleshooting complex authentication and authorization issues, ensuring compliance with internal security policies and external regulatory requirements, and documenting system designs and technical flows.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM), with deep expertise in Okta. Proficiency in SSO protocols like SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect is essential, along with hands-on experience in building and maintaining SCIM and API-based integrations using tools such as JSON and REST. The candidate should have a proven track record of configuring Okta in enterprise environments, independently troubleshooting and optimizing IAM workflows, and scripting with Python or Workato to streamline IAM processes. Strong collaboration and communication skills are necessary to effectively work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
