As an Intern in Analytical Chemistry at Lila Sciences, you will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of our analytical laboratory. Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, you will contribute to advancing autonomous chemistry initiatives. Your efforts will directly support closed-loop optimization campaigns, accelerating the journey from conceptual ideas to groundbreaking discoveries.

Your primary responsibilities will include developing high-throughput optimization cycles for chemical analyses and utilizing process analytical technology (PAT) to monitor reaction progress and end products across various states—solids, liquids, and gases. You will be tasked with creating and refining methods for analytical screening, analyzing and benchmarking product profiles, proposing and validating subsequent closed-loop cycles, performing quality control assessments, and presenting comprehensive reports on your findings. Maintaining accurate digital logs of experimental conditions, metadata, and results is essential to ensure data integrity for AI-driven analyses. Adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) best practices is paramount, including proper handling of reagents, maintenance of flow equipment, and calibration of analytical instruments.

To excel in this role, candidates should be currently pursuing a Ph.D. or have recently completed a Master's degree with at least two years of experience in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline. Hands-on experience in developing high-throughput methodologies and conducting organic chemical product analyses using techniques such as liquid chromatography (LC), mass spectrometry (MS), infrared spectroscopy (IR), and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is required. Comfort working in wet-lab environments, following detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs), and effective written and verbal communication skills are essential. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team setting is also crucial.

Lila Sciences is at the forefront of scientific superintelligence, pioneering an autonomous lab platform for life sciences, chemistry, and materials science. By integrating advanced AI models with proprietary instruments, we aim to revolutionize the scientific method, accelerating discoveries in human health, climate, and sustainability. Joining our team offers a unique opportunity to contribute to transformative solutions addressing some of humanity's most pressing challenges.
