The DevOps Engineering Intern will support the Product Operations team in building and maintaining infrastructure and delivery platforms. Working alongside experienced engineers, the intern will gain hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code in a fast-paced scientific computing environment. This is an opportunity to learn modern DevOps and platform engineering practices while contributing to systems that power automated scientific analysis, experiment orchestration, and ML pipelines.

Key responsibilities include assisting with maintaining and improving Kubernetes-based infrastructure supporting scientific services and platform workloads. The intern will help build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, including container image builds and automated testing. Additionally, they will write and update infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and Helm charts under the guidance of senior engineers, support AWS cloud infrastructure tasks across services such as EKS, IAM, S3, ECR, and VPC networking, and contribute to automation scripts and tooling in Python or Bash to improve infrastructure operations. The role also involves assisting with monitoring, logging, and observability tooling to help maintain system reliability, participating in incident response and troubleshooting exercises to develop operational skills, and documenting processes, runbooks, and infrastructure decisions.

Candidates should be currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. They should have foundational knowledge of Linux systems and command-line/Bash scripting, basic understanding of Python programming for scripting and automation, and familiarity with version control using Git and GitHub workflows. Exposure to cloud computing concepts (AWS preferred) through coursework or personal projects, basic understanding of containers (Docker) and container orchestration concepts, eagerness to learn modern DevOps practices including CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and Kubernetes, strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative, team-first attitude, and good written and verbal communication skills are also required.
