IT Engineer
Helsing is seeking an IT Engineer to manage and enhance its IT infrastructure in the Washington, DC office. This role is integral to establishing secure and efficient systems that support the development and delivery of defense technologies, aligning with applicable regulations and industry best practices.
The IT Engineer will be responsible for configuring and operating endpoints, including workstations, laptops, and servers, as well as supporting an office of approximately 10-25 employees. Key duties include setting up and maintaining on-premises Linux compute environments, managing network and VPN infrastructure, and collaborating with Helsing's broader IT team to optimize corporate, development, and customer environments built primarily using Microsoft 365 and Azure, alongside other SaaS solutions.
Candidates should have over five years of experience in IT infrastructure and information security, preferably within the defense industry. Proficiency in IT engineering or system administration roles, particularly with macOS clients, AWS Cloud environments, Linux servers, and Kubernetes, is essential. Experience in managing modern network infrastructure, including network- and host-based security tools, is also required. Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills are necessary, along with a current security clearance, ideally at the Top Secret level.
Helsing offers a focus on outcomes rather than time-tracking, a generous compensation and benefits package—including medical and travel insurance, flexible paid time off, and paid holidays—and remote and/or hybrid work options depending on the position.
Joining Helsing means contributing directly to the protection of democratic countries while balancing ethical and geopolitical considerations. The company operates in a domain with unique technical requirements and constraints, offering opportunities to tackle challenging engineering and AI problems that have a meaningful global impact.
