Java Developer

Acuity, Inc. is seeking a Java Developer to join our Software Engineering Practice, focusing on building cutting-edge, custom applications for government agencies. Our team emphasizes usability and user experience, utilizing modern design and project management tools to deliver effective solutions. We operate in an Agile/Scrum environment, aiming to ship products in months instead of years.

In this role, you will assist in developing open-source solutions, participate in design and code reviews, create test plans, and resolve moderate defects. Responsibilities include supporting the design, documentation, and maintenance of software components for various integration applications. Additionally, you will research and assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of large enterprise applications, troubleshoot production issues, and automate tasks to enhance reporting.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and has at least 4 years of experience in Java/J2EE development, concurrency, middleware, and distributed computing. Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to articulate complex problems are essential. Experience with AWS or cloud technologies is a plus. U.S. citizenship is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust suitability.
