Lead Counsel, UK
Airbnb is seeking a Lead Counsel to oversee its UK operations, reporting to the Associate General Counsel Product EMEA. This role is based in London and involves serving as the primary legal advisor for Airbnb's UK business, focusing on regulatory, reputation, and public policy matters.
The Lead Counsel will be responsible for managing all legal aspects related to Airbnb's UK operations. This includes collaborating with public policy and communications teams, tax departments, and other legal team members to develop and implement strategic positions on various regulations affecting Airbnb and its users. Key areas of focus include short-term rental and planning regulations, tourist taxes, content liability, digital regulations, and consumer protection. Additionally, the role involves advising on UK B2C and B2B product launches, overseeing UK litigation, and handling commercial, marketing, corporate, real estate, competition, data protection, intellectual property, tax, and payments regulatory matters.
Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience, with significant in-house experience advising senior business and policy stakeholders on UK laws and regulations. Experience in collaborating with business and policy teams to develop strategic positions and policy strategies for new and existing regulations is essential. The role requires excellent understanding of UK laws and regulations, strong analytical skills, and the ability to provide business-focused and creative legal advice. Proficiency in managing external counsel and overseeing various legal matters is also necessary.
