Lead Software Engineer, Web
As a Lead Software Engineer, Web at Headout, you will be responsible for owning the quality, architecture, and delivery of our web interfaces. You will combine strong frontend engineering skills with thoughtful leadership to build scalable, high-performance web experiences used by a global audience. This role involves guiding frontend direction across projects, setting technical standards, and collaborating closely with product, design, and backend teams to ensure robust, maintainable, and user-friendly builds.
Key responsibilities include designing and evolving scalable frontend systems that support long-term product growth, driving projects end-to-end while setting high standards for code quality, performance, and user experience. You will partner with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to translate ideas into reliable interfaces, support and guide frontend engineers through feedback and shared best practices, and evaluate new tools and frameworks thoughtfully, balancing innovation with stability.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in frontend development, building and shipping production web applications. Strong expertise in JavaScript (ES5/ES6), TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern frontend architecture is required. Experience designing scalable, performance-optimized frontend systems, comfort working with Node.js, browser dev tools, and both CSS-in-JS and traditional CSS approaches are essential. A solid understanding of web performance, responsiveness, and browser behavior, along with proven ability to collaborate, communicate clearly, and take ownership of frontend outcomes, is expected. Curiosity to learn and adapt, paired with good judgment on when and how to adopt new technologies, is also important.
