Legal Assistant
Morgan & Morgan is seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our Social Security team in New York. This role involves supporting attorneys in managing Social Security cases, ensuring efficient case progression, and maintaining high standards of client service. Key responsibilities include performing administrative duties such as scheduling hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics. The Legal Assistant will maintain pleadings and discovery indexes, organize exhibits and documents, and implement administrative processes to enhance workflow efficiency. Additionally, the role involves collecting and organizing evidence for attorney review, drafting and proofreading legal documents, researching regulations and laws, managing client billing, and communicating with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings and hearings.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies, a Bachelor’s Degree, or a Paralegal Certificate. Prior experience as a case manager in a Veteran Affairs department is preferred, along with at least one year of experience in legal, medical, or social services. Candidates should be highly organized, capable of multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. The position offers an hourly rate of $25.50.
