Legal Clerk I – Family Court
The Legal Clerk I position in the Family Court of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania involves entry-level clerical legal work within the Juvenile or Domestic Relations Branch. The role requires data input of court outcomes, preparation of court lists, and maintenance of case records to support the court's mission of providing fair and timely justice to the people of Philadelphia.
Key responsibilities include initiating and updating Family Court cases in applicable computer systems, checking litigant histories for active or pending cases, scheduling court dates and conferences, and recording judges' orders and exhibits during court proceedings. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with one to two years of progressively responsible clerical experience processing legal instruments and documents. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of training and experience is acceptable. Proficiency in data entry, attention to detail, and the ability to work under direct supervision according to defined rules and procedures are essential.
