Legal Counsel
Adyen is seeking a driven and enthusiastic Commercial Counsel to join its global Deal Desk within the Commercial Legal team, based in San Francisco. This role involves negotiating customer-facing contracts, primarily with enterprise clients, and providing strategic legal advice across various commercial functions. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to Adyen's growth by ensuring legal compliance and facilitating complex transactions.
Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of complex, multi-jurisdictional commercial agreements related to Adyen's payment, data, and financial services products. The Commercial Counsel will proactively identify and address emerging legal and operational risks, manage early-stage customer disputes, and drive legal automation efforts to enhance the efficiency of the contracting process. Additionally, the role involves building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and participating in training commercial colleagues globally.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of legal experience, either in-house or at a law firm, with a strong background in commercial contracting and transactional matters. They should possess excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders from diverse disciplines and cultures. The ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and communicate complex legal concepts clearly is essential. Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required, and additional language skills are considered a plus.
