BESIX Group, a leading Belgian multidisciplinary company specializing in construction, real estate development, and concessions, is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support for its operations in Belgium and Luxembourg. Founded in 1909, BESIX has grown into an international group with approximately 12,000 employees across more than 25 countries. The Legal Counsel will be integral to the Legal & Contract team, reporting directly to the General Counsel.

In this role, the Legal Counsel will advise BESIX's project teams throughout the entire contracting cycle, from tender review to project hand-over and, if necessary, dispute resolution. Key responsibilities include reviewing tender documentation and legal frameworks, drafting legal analyses and recommendations, contributing to internal review processes ahead of bidding, and drafting all required contractual documentation during the bidding and negotiation phases. The Legal Counsel will also ensure a seamless hand-over to project execution teams, liaise with them throughout the execution phase, and provide assistance as appropriate. Additionally, the role involves following up on any claims in close cooperation with the relevant contract manager and advising on pre-litigation tactics when necessary.

The ideal candidate will possess a university degree in law with a strong academic track record and at least 10 years of relevant experience in construction and/or project development, including handling disputes, either in a major law firm or within a construction company. Knowledge of project finance, public-private partnerships, and public procurement is advantageous. Fluency in Dutch and English is required, with a good working knowledge of French; proficiency in additional languages is a plus. The candidate should demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, outstanding drafting and negotiation abilities, and strong interpersonal and communication skills. A team-oriented approach, self-starter attitude, and the ability to multitask in a demanding, deadline-driven environment are essential.

BESIX offers an attractive remuneration package, including a salary aligned with market standards and a range of employee benefits such as flexible mobility advantages, extra-legal pension, medical care insurance, and work-life balance programs like teleworking, childcare, flexible work schedules, and mobile working. The company also provides career development programs to ensure continuous learning and improvement, a dynamic and creative working environment with innovative colleagues, and the opportunity to work on complex projects both locally and internationally. Employees have the choice to remain locally anchored or pursue exciting international career opportunities within the group.

Joining BESIX means becoming part of a dynamic, creative, and entrepreneurial company committed to building iconic and sustainable projects. The company values diverse personalities, mindsets, backgrounds, and genders to contribute to its mission of creating sustainable solutions for a better world. BESIX offers a safe and collaborative working environment with ambitious and innovative goals for the future, providing ample opportunities for personal and career development.
