Legal Counsel

Lightning AI is seeking a Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team. As the company behind PyTorch Lightning, we develop an end-to-end platform for AI system development, training, and deployment. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Engineering, Sales, and Security, to support our rapid growth and innovation in the AI industry.

The Legal Counsel will lead the drafting and negotiation of various contracts, such as Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Data Processing Addenda (DPAs), and vendor agreements. Additionally, this role will serve as the primary legal point of contact for internal teams, streamlining deal cycles and mitigating risks associated with complex technology transactions, particularly those involving intellectual property rights and data privacy frameworks in AI and cloud computing.

Candidates should possess 3–5 years of legal practice experience, focusing on commercial or corporate transactions. A proven track record at a top-tier law firm, in-house at a high-growth tech company, or a combination of both is essential. A deep understanding of technology transactions, including the nuances of IP licensing and data privacy provisions, is required. The ideal candidate will be a confident negotiator who can balance risk management with creative solutions to facilitate business objectives.

This is a hybrid role based in our San Francisco or New York office, with an in-office requirement of two days per week. The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $180,000 to $220,000 USD, complemented by a discretionary bonus, meaningful equity component, and comprehensive benefits package.
