Legal Counsel
Modulr is seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. As a rapidly growing digital payments company, Modulr provides innovative payment solutions to businesses, enabling faster and more reliable money movement. This role offers a unique opportunity to be an instrumental part of our expanding legal team, contributing to the foundation and growth of our legal function.
In this position, you will be responsible for negotiating and drafting client contracts, managing a variety of supplier agreements—including key banking relationships, technology, employment, marketing, and property contracts—and providing legal advice on diverse issues and projects. Your day-to-day activities will involve handling various contract types, such as banking agency agreements, payment scheme contracts, NDAs, and general terms and conditions. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient contracting processes while assessing and managing legal risks appropriately.
The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience, with strong private practice training and some in-house experience, such as a client secondment. Experience in banking, finance, or payments law is preferred but not essential. You should possess strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills, be highly adaptable, and have a proactive approach to legal and business challenges. A dynamic and approachable demeanor, coupled with the ability to provide practical legal advice in a commercial context, is essential.
