Legal Counsel (Payment)
Hyphen Connect Limited, Asia's leading web3 venture studio, is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their team in Taiwan. This role involves acting as the sole in-house lawyer, providing legal advice to executives and the management team, and ensuring the company operates in compliance with all relevant regulations and legal requirements in the industry.
The Legal Counsel will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal contracts and agreements. They will develop and implement compliance policies and procedures that align with the regulatory requirements of the crypto industry, and maintain and update these policies as needed. Additionally, the role involves identifying potential legal risks to the organization and devising proactive strategies to mitigate them. Investigating and responding to complaints regarding alleged violations of rules, policies, and procedures, and recommending suitable solutions are also key responsibilities. Staying updated with changes in laws that impact the company and providing timely updates and strategic advice on the potential impact of such changes is essential.
The ideal candidate will hold a law degree (LLB or J.D.) and be a qualified lawyer with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in a reputable international or top local law firm. Experience in advising on products and related legal and regulatory matters is required, along with a strong understanding of payments regulation, fund flows, and licensing frameworks. Experience in payment, fintech, EMI/PSP, or financial services compliance or regulatory advisory is essential. The candidate should possess sound judgment on business practices, internal and external stakeholder relationship management, and reputational risk. Being business-driven and capable of facilitating business by providing solutions is important. Business proficiency in spoken and written English and Mandarin is required. Experience in multi-jurisdiction environments is a strong plus.
