Legal Counsel (Payment)
Hyphen Connect, Asia's leading web3 venture studio, is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their dynamic team. This role involves developing and implementing legal and compliance policies, conducting regular audits, and providing guidance to employees on compliance matters, ensuring the company operates in accordance with all relevant regulations and legal requirements in the industry.
The Legal Counsel will act as the sole in-house lawyer, offering legal advice to executives and the management team. Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal contracts and agreements, developing and maintaining compliance policies and procedures aligned with crypto industry regulations, identifying potential legal risks and devising proactive mitigation strategies, investigating and responding to complaints regarding alleged violations, and staying updated with changes in laws impacting the company to provide timely updates and strategic advice.
Candidates should hold a law degree (LLB or J.D.) and be qualified in major common law jurisdictions. A minimum of 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in a reputable international or top local law firm is required. Experience in advising on products and related legal and regulatory matters, a strong understanding of payments regulation, fund flows, and licensing frameworks, and experience in payment, fintech, EMI/PSP, or financial services compliance or regulatory advisory are essential. The ideal candidate will possess sound judgment on business practices, stakeholder relationship management, and reputational risk, be business-driven and capable of facilitating business by providing solutions, and have business proficiency in spoken and written English and Mandarin. Experience in multi-jurisdiction environments is a strong plus.
