Legal Counsel - Public Affairs & Regulatory
Trustpilot is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Public Affairs & Regulatory team within the broader Trust team. This role is pivotal in enhancing online trust by ensuring that consumers, businesses, regulators, and other stakeholders have confidence in the platform's content and the company's commitment to ethical practices. The primary objective is to uphold Trustpilot's reputation as a trusted and compliant platform amidst a complex and evolving regulatory landscape.
Key responsibilities include monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing new laws and regulations related to online safety, digital content, and consumer protection across key markets such as the UK, EU, and US. The role involves ensuring the seamless implementation of new legislative requirements, maintaining regulatory obligations, and providing ad hoc legal support and analysis. Additionally, the Legal Counsel will identify and recommend strategic improvements to Trustpilot's products and operations to ensure compliance and trustworthiness.
The ideal candidate will have the right to practice law in Scotland, England & Wales, or Denmark, with 0-2 years of post-qualification experience. Essential skills include strong analytical, drafting, negotiation, and communication abilities. A growth mindset, a focus on outcomes, the ability to manage multiple tasks under competing deadlines, and enthusiasm for regulatory issues are also important. Desirable qualifications include experience in an in-house role within the technology sector or a regulated industry, knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, and an interest in politics and current affairs.
