Legal Transcriptionist/ Editor
Prevail Legal is seeking a meticulous and deadline-driven individual for the role of Legal Transcriptionist/Editor. This position involves reviewing and editing AI-generated transcriptions of legal depositions to ensure accuracy and completeness. The role is entirely remote and reports to the Transcription Quality Control Manager.
Key responsibilities include reviewing AI-generated transcriptions against original audio or video recordings, correcting grammar, punctuation, and formatting errors, and conducting thorough research to verify technical and specialized legal terminology. The transcriptionist/editor will also ensure proper identification of speakers, maintain consistency with established style guidelines, and adapt to changes in AI technology and transcription practices.
The ideal candidate will possess a college or university degree or court reporting/transcription certification, with a preference for those holding an AAERT Certified Electronic Transcriber (CET) or similar certification. Candidates should be detail-oriented, capable of focusing for extended periods, and able to prioritize multiple requests and deadlines. Proficiency in English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and idioms is essential, along with familiarity with legal terminology and jargon. Strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to interact professionally with team members, and comfort with learning new technologies are also required.
Compensation for this hourly position ranges from $14 to $22 per hour, varying with skills and experience. Prevail Legal reserves the right to change this job description to meet the organization's business needs.
