Litigation Assistant
Morgan & Morgan, a leading personal injury law firm, is seeking a dedicated Litigation Assistant to join our team in Detroit, Michigan. This role involves supporting our legal team in managing day-to-day operations and ensuring efficient case management. The ideal candidate will work closely with attorneys and paralegals to uphold our commitment to serving clients effectively.
Key responsibilities include performing administrative duties such as scheduling hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics. The Litigation Assistant will maintain pleadings and discovery indexes, organize exhibits and legal documents, and implement administrative processes to enhance workflow efficiency. Additionally, the role involves collecting and organizing evidence for attorney review, drafting and proofreading legal documents, conducting legal research, managing client billing, and coordinating meetings with clients and witnesses.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, with an associate's degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a bachelor's degree preferred. A minimum of two years of experience as an administrative assistant in a law firm or corporate legal department is required. Experience in personal injury, workers' compensation, premises liability, or related practice areas is preferred. The role demands strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and a typing speed of at least 35 words per minute are also necessary.
