Litigation Assistant
Morgan & Morgan, a prominent American law firm founded in 1988 and headquartered in Orlando, Florida, is seeking a Litigation Assistant to join their Manhattan, New York office. The firm specializes in personal injury, civil rights, class actions, and medical malpractice, employing over 6,000 individuals, including more than 1,000 attorneys across the United States.
As a Litigation Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the legal team by managing daily operations, organizing case files, and coordinating logistics. Your responsibilities will include scheduling hearings and deadlines, maintaining pleadings and discovery indexes, organizing exhibits and legal documents, and implementing administrative processes to enhance workflow efficiency. Additionally, you will assist in drafting and proofreading correspondence and legal documents, conduct research on regulations and laws, manage client billing, and communicate with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings and depositions.
The ideal candidate should possess a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for an associate's degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a bachelor's degree. A minimum of two years of experience as an administrative assistant, legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal is required, preferably within a law firm or corporate legal department. Experience in personal injury, workers' compensation, premises liability, or related practice areas is advantageous. Strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook are essential.
