Litigation Paralegal
Morgan & Morgan, a leading personal injury law firm dedicated to protecting the people, not the powerful, is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join their team in Scranton, Pennsylvania. As a Litigation Paralegal, you will work closely with our talented attorneys, providing support before, during, and after trials.
In this role, you will prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, and legal memoranda. You will e-file all court documents in state and federal court and communicate with clients, courts, counsel, and others. Conducting legal research and factual investigation, preparing discovery documents, interrogatories, and responses, drafting and serving summons, coordinating and summarizing depositions, and preparing trial binders and exhibits will also be part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will draft pleadings, motions, and appellate documents and file them with the court, perform administrative duties such as calendaring hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics, maintain pleadings and discovery indexes, organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices, aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests, gather relevant information from a variety of sources, liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties, assist with witness preparation, and help with case settlements.
The ideal candidate will have an Associate degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience, with 2+ years of litigation experience required. Completion of a nationally accredited paralegal program is preferred. Experience in Workers Compensation is preferred. The candidate must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as well as proficiency in calendaring depositions, mediations, and hearings. Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, and procedures is necessary. The candidate should be highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment and have extensive computer and database expertise, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and a typing speed of no less than 35 wpm.
