Wayve, a leading developer of Embodied AI technology for autonomous vehicles, is seeking a Machine Learning Engineering Manager to lead their new Application Engineering team in the United States. This team will focus on localizing and advancing Wayve's autonomous driving technology for the U.S. market, ensuring that the company's AI solutions are tailored to the unique road infrastructure, driving behaviors, and regulatory landscape of the U.S.
In this role, the manager will build and lead a self-sufficient team of engineers specializing in robotics, machine learning, and systems integration. The team will be responsible for developing autonomy features that perform safely and effectively in the U.S. environment. The manager will also collaborate closely with central autonomy teams and work with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners in the U.S. to capture product requirements and shape joint development plans.
Candidates should have a strong background in robotics and autonomy, with experience in building and deploying systems that operate in real-world environments. Proven leadership skills, including the ability to lead and grow high-performing engineering teams, are essential. The role requires comfort with ambiguity, as the manager will need to define goals, create roadmaps, and deliver high-impact work with minimal supervision. Broad technical fluency across software engineering, machine learning, controls, and systems integration is necessary, along with excellent communication skills to convey technical context and strategic vision across cultures and time zones.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $336,400 to $381,600 annually, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation will be based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Wayve operates a hybrid working policy that combines time together in offices and workshops to fuel innovation, culture, relationships, and learning, with time spent working from home. Core working hours are established to allow flexibility in scheduling.
