Member of Technical Staff - Large Scale Data Infrastructure

Black Forest Labs is seeking a Member of Technical Staff to join their Large Scale Data Infrastructure team. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for developing scalable data loaders for training runs across thousands of GPUs, designing efficient storage and retrieval systems for petabyte-scale datasets, and creating multi-cloud object storage abstractions. Additional duties include executing large-scale data migrations across storage systems and providers, as well as debugging and resolving performance bottlenecks in distributed data loading.

The ideal candidate should have experience building and operating data pipelines at petabyte scale, optimizing data loading processes, and working with extensive video and image datasets. Proficiency in writing processing jobs that handle millions of files and debugging distributed system bottlenecks across large fleets of machines is essential. Familiarity with Python, PyTorch DataLoader internals, object storage solutions like S3, Azure Blob, GCS, and tools such as ffmpeg and PyAV is highly desirable.

The position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $180,000 to $300,000 USD, depending on profile and experience, along with equity options.
