Operations Business Partner (12 months fixed term contract)
The Operations Business Partner role at Canva is a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Sydney, Australia, operating in a hybrid work model. This position is integral to the Operations Partnering team, a global group of 80 professionals, including Chiefs of Staff, Operations Business Partners, and Admin Business Partners. The team's mission is to build and optimize ways of working that empower Canvanauts worldwide to achieve Canva's mission, strategy, and goals effectively. As an Operations Business Partner, you will be deeply embedded in the business area you support, working closely with cross-functional teams ranging from 100 to over 2,000 members.
In this role, you will drive operational cadence and goal delivery by establishing and maintaining robust operational rhythms that provide teams with clarity, visibility, and accountability. You will oversee high-impact, cross-functional programs, bringing structure and momentum to complex projects spanning multiple teams. Additionally, you will champion culture and people experience by designing and delivering impactful onsites, team forums, connection rituals, celebrations, and milestone recognitions. Effective communication is key, as you will synthesize complex information into clear updates, ensuring the right people have the right context at the right time. Leveraging AI and emerging tools to improve team workflows and proactively identifying emerging opportunities and friction points are also essential aspects of the role.
The ideal candidate has a background in operational or generalist roles, such as program or project management, team operations, or generalist operations, with experience working across large, complex, cross-functional teams, ideally in a tech or fast-paced environment. A genuine interest and experience in the people side of operations, including culture and team engagement, are crucial. The ability to thrive in ambiguity, strong communication skills tailored to various audiences, a keen eye for detail, and the capacity to build relationships and expand internal networks are also important. Experience in change management is considered a plus.
