The Paralegal I position at AbbVie offers an opportunity to support a team of attorneys within the company's legal department. Key responsibilities include processing incoming documents and correspondence from foreign counsel, preparing responses for attorney review, and transmitting them to foreign associates or outside counsel. The paralegal will also handle the legalization of assignments and power of attorney documents, manage docket deadlines for multiple attorneys, and prepare and file legal documents associated with patent or trademark applications. Additionally, the role involves coordinating departmental files and assisting with project management tasks as needed.

Candidates should possess a high school diploma, with a Bachelor's Degree or completion of a paralegal studies program preferred. A Paralegal Certificate is also preferred. A minimum of two years of experience within a law firm or corporate legal department is required. The role demands strong communication, writing, and analytical skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems like iManage or First to File. Experience with both U.S. and foreign patent and/or trademark processes, as well as familiarity with the USPTO EFS, is preferred.
