Payment Operations & Risk Analyst
Squarespace is seeking a Payment Operations & Risk Analyst to join their growing team in Dublin. This role is integral to building a world-class payments and risk operations function, collaborating closely with Finance, Customer Operations, Security, and Trust & Safety teams to proactively identify and mitigate fraudulent activities across the platform. The position reports to the Payment Operations & Risk Manager and operates in a hybrid model, requiring three days per week in the Dublin office.
Key responsibilities include continuously monitoring and evaluating fraud and merchant portfolio risks through internal and external reports and tools, investigating and resolving escalated cases of account suspensions, conducting merchant and transaction-level risk reviews, and making decisions to approve, reject, or escalate users for further information. The analyst will also maintain and improve current risk reporting, partner with the Finance team to investigate chargebacks, collaborate with the Customer Operations team to resolve escalated client issues, identify fraud rings and patterns of abuse, and assist in designing, implementing, and monitoring new methodologies and metrics for risk process and policy effectiveness. Additionally, the role involves providing training and mentorship for new Risk Analysts as the team expands.
Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in evaluating and mitigating merchant risk for loss and/or fraud, with a background in e-commerce, payments, FinTech, online marketplaces, or similar digital businesses. A solid understanding of payment processing, underwriting, financial statements, and basic bank and association rules is essential. Experience with risk and payments tools such as Sift, Sardine, Stripe, Plaid, and Adyen is preferred, along with the ability to quickly learn and explore new software to continuously improve service. Strong analytical skills, the ability to use data to support assumptions and make recommendations, and a collaborative approach to connecting the dots between teams and managing cross-functional initiatives are crucial. Candidates should also be curious, comfortable making decisions autonomously, and adept at investigating and resolving complex issues.
