Payroll Specialist

GHJ is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage and process weekly payroll for a growing organization. This role is integral to ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining payroll records, and supporting compliance with applicable wage and hour regulations. The Payroll Specialist will collaborate closely with the Human Resources and Accounting teams to ensure alignment on employee data and payroll accuracy.

Key responsibilities include processing weekly payroll using Paylocity, reviewing and validating timekeeping data, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. The specialist will also maintain and update employee payroll records, respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, reconcile payroll reports, and assist with general ledger entries as needed. Additionally, the role involves preparing and distributing payroll-related reports to management and supporting year-end processes, including W-2 preparation and audits.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of payroll processing experience, with proficiency in processing weekly payrolls. Experience with Paylocity is preferred but not required. A strong knowledge of California payroll laws and wage and hour compliance is essential. The candidate should demonstrate high attention to detail and accuracy, the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information, strong organizational and time management skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting.
