Principal Privacy Engineer
DoorDash is seeking a Principal Privacy Engineer to lead the technical direction for privacy engineering across the company. This role is part of the Security Engineering team, which is dedicated to building a secure and reliable delivery network for DoorDash's three-sided marketplace of consumers, merchants, and Dashers. The position is open to remote candidates in the United States and Canada and reports directly to the Director of Security Engineering.
In this role, the Principal Privacy Engineer will set and execute the technical vision for Privacy Engineering, ensuring alignment with DoorDash's business objectives. Responsibilities include designing and implementing privacy-preserving controls, collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Core Infrastructure, Product Engineering, Legal, Security, and Data teams to integrate privacy by design practices, and maintaining high operational excellence in privacy services. Additionally, the role involves influencing the secure and responsible adoption of large language models (LLMs) and AI tools from a privacy perspective.
Candidates should have over 15 years of experience as a privacy engineer in large-scale organizations, with demonstrated technical leadership in privacy-enhancing technologies, machine learning, and analytical techniques for privacy assurance. A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Privacy, or a related field is required. The ideal candidate will have expertise in data classification, inventory, sharing, deletion, data governance, data protection, privacy-enhancing controls, and trusted execution environments. Experience designing privacy engineering controls to meet regulatory requirements such as GDPR and CCPA is essential. Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are also necessary.
The compensation for this role includes a base salary ranging from $193,800 to $285,000 USD, determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. In addition to the base salary, the compensation package includes opportunities for equity grants.
