Privacy Counsel
The Privacy Counsel at Dentons plays a pivotal role within the firm’s UK-based Privacy and Cybersecurity team, offering expert legal advice across a range of data protection, privacy, and digital regulation matters. Dentons is known as one of the world’s largest law firms with a truly global reach, and this position is integral to supporting both local and international clients in managing their privacy compliance strategies. The team collaborates with a diverse array of clients, including multinational corporations, financial institutions, and public sector bodies.
In this role, you will provide day-to-day advice on issues such as GDPR, cross-border data transfers, marketing laws, data breaches, and privacy compliance frameworks. You will be expected to assist clients with the drafting, negotiation, and review of commercial contracts and privacy notices, support audits and risk assessments, and conduct internal investigations related to data incidents. Participation in client training sessions and keeping up to date with regulatory developments are also key responsibilities.
Candidates should be qualified solicitors with a strong technical background in UK and EU data protection law, ideally with experience from a leading law firm or in-house environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and experience managing multiple complex projects are required. Familiarity with international privacy regulations, cyber risk management, and sector-specific privacy issues is highly valued.
