R&D Attorney, Transactional
GC AI is seeking an R&D Attorney to enhance the accuracy and quality of its legal AI platform, which serves over 1,500 companies, including numerous public companies and unicorns. This role offers the opportunity to influence the development of AI tools that assist in-house legal teams, contributing to a rapidly growing company backed by prominent investors.
The R&D Attorney will design and conduct evaluations of AI-generated legal outputs, ensuring they meet high professional standards. Responsibilities include reviewing product outputs for accuracy, collaborating with engineering and go-to-market teams to identify and address performance gaps, and developing system prompts and evaluation criteria that align with real-world legal expectations.
Candidates must possess a law degree and have at least three years of corporate-commercial or transactional legal experience, preferably in an in-house setting. Proficiency in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts is essential. Experience with generative AI in legal contexts and evaluating AI outputs is highly desirable. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams are also required.
The position offers a competitive salary ranging from $150,000 to $240,000 annually, along with meaningful equity and excellent benefits for full-time employees. The role is remote for candidates in the United States or Canada, with a hybrid schedule for those within approximately 50 miles of the San Mateo, CA, or Provo, UT offices, requiring in-office presence on specific days.
