Real Estate Finance Counsel
Axiom is seeking a Real Estate Finance Counsel to join its Financial Services and Real Estate team in New York. This role involves providing expert legal advice and support to clients in commercial real estate and finance, focusing on compliance and risk mitigation. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with leading clients in commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), lease financing, and real estate joint ventures, shaping legal strategies and driving business success.
Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial real estate finance documents, loan agreements, mortgage-backed securities contracts, and lease financing agreements. The counsel will provide legal guidance on CMBS transactions, FHA and HUD regulatory compliance, and property-level due diligence. Collaboration with internal legal, finance, and risk teams, as well as external counsel and financial institutions, is essential for real estate finance and joint venture transactions. Managing real estate finance, regulatory, and transactional legal issues for clients in commercial property, investment, and development sectors is a core aspect of the role. Staying ahead of industry trends, FHA/HUD regulations, and market developments to provide proactive counsel is also expected.
Candidates should have over five years of experience in commercial real estate finance or structured real estate transactions. A strong knowledge of CMBS, mortgage-backed securities, FHA/HUD regulations, loan-to-value (LTV) analysis, and lease financing structures is required. A proven track record of advising clients on commercial real estate finance transactions, joint ventures, and compliance matters is essential. Excellent communication, negotiation, technology, and problem-solving skills are necessary. A Juris Doctor (JD) degree and licensure to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction are mandatory.
The estimated total compensation for this full-time attorney role ranges from $1,045,000 to $3,250,000 per year. Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.
