Regulatory and Export Compliance Attorney
True Anomaly, a pioneering company in the aerospace and defense sector, is seeking a Regulatory and Export Compliance Attorney to lead and manage its export and trade compliance program. This role is integral to ensuring the company's adherence to complex international trade regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and OFAC, and will report directly to the head of the Legal Department. The position offers flexibility with options for in-office or remote work, with locations in Denver, Long Beach, or the possibility of remote engagement.
As the primary in-house authority on export controls and trade compliance, the attorney will be responsible for overseeing the company's compliance framework, providing strategic legal advice to leadership and cross-functional teams, and translating complex regulations into practical guidance. Key responsibilities include serving as the lead export compliance attorney for ITAR and EAR matters, acting as the company's designated Empowered Official, leading export classification and jurisdiction determinations, developing and managing TAAs and MLAs, advising on technology transfers, ensuring compliance with OFAC sanctions, and overseeing trade-compliance aspects of supplier and intermediary relationships.
The ideal candidate will possess a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, and over 10 years of relevant experience, including substantial in-house or Big Law experience focused on export controls and trade compliance. Demonstrated experience serving as, or acting in the capacity of, an Empowered Official is essential. Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated technology environments, along with the ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and technical teams, is highly valued.
Compensation for this role includes a base salary ranging from $225,000 to $295,000, complemented by equity and a comprehensive benefits package. The actual salary offered will be determined based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, education, location, and experience.
